Today is an exciting day for me!
After months of praying and pondering...
I have decided it is time for me to go back to school and finish up my education!
- - - - -
Not for any particular reason
- - - - -
I am not searching for a job or a change in my life.
- - - - - -
This is just something I have ALWAYS wanted to finish.
I am not a quitter, I am a finisher.
I am not a quitter, I am a finisher.
- - - - -
But my life didn't exactly go as planned in the middle of college so it was put on the backburner while I had my kids.
- - - - -
The wait is almost over...
HERE I COME
Today I applied and had transcripts sent over and found out some
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL news...
All my previous 44 credit hours from my first year will transfer with me!
EVERY.
SINGLE.
ONE.
I nearly cried with joy!
What has been really surprising has been people's reactions around me!
- - - - -
I genuinely thought that most people would seem excited and happy for me, but instead I have felt really critisized and selfish and that I am not thinking this all the way through.
I know it is a HUGE decision. I know that college is hard and a lot of work.
I also know I can do it!
- - - - -
Anyone who thinks differently can send me their fax #
and will get a copy of my diploma in the future :)
- - - - -
Matt and I both know it is the right decision. He is overly supportive even. He knows it has always been a goal of mine and I sacrificed my education for his. Now its finally my TURN!
- - - - -
For the few of you who have been super supportive, I can't thank you enough.
- - - - -
But if there is one thing everyone who knows me knows...it is
DO NOT tell me I can't do something.
- - - - -
I promise I will prove ya wrong ;)
So here we go!
I have a few more things to work on, but the hard part is over.
The decision is made and I am so excited for the challenge.
I have always wanted to have the chance to go back and finish what I started,
so this August, it BEGINS!

Wish me luck! Or not... ;)

Congrats on your choice! Also, HUGE congrats that all your credits transfer. That is always the trickiest part! Even when I transferred between Ricks and BYU it was a fight to get those credits put in all the right spots!
I'm so happy for you and your choice. Finishing up your degree is an awesome thing to do! I'm so glad I finished mine and was very surprised when I actually wound up using it. You might find yourself just as surprised! Who knows!
Have fun - take the classes you HAVE to, of course, but try to throw in classes you WANT to take as well. Good luck and I can't wait to hear more :)
Way to go, Amanda! I think this is awesome news! Now give us the juicy details of what you want to major in, what classes you look forward to/dread...etc!
Good Luck! You'll do awesome:)
I think it is fabulous! What a great thing for your kids to see you working hard toward a goal. They will definitely get that college is important when they see you sacrificing for it.
well this is big news that you failed to share with me yesterday.... come on... when I asked what was new you said you just ordered your CH passes. I think this is far more exciting the CH passes!! And seriously who is not being supportive?! they must not know you well. you will do great! where are you going to go? still thinking interior design? I guess I am not the only one needing details..... please share :)
You are amazing, woman!! I'm a little envious, not because you are doing this, but because you WANT to do this...I have the same feelings about getting my degree, too...the nagging feeling that it is something I should accomplish, I just don't have the desire...You are an inspiration, and hopefully, you will rub off on me. Congratulations, and I'm here to help you accomplish this!!
Thank you all so very much for you support! It was a scary and fun decision, but I have never been more at peace than I am with my choices. It has been a very spiritual experience choosing to do this and one I KNOW I will not regret!
Shanae-It's been so long! Thanks for the encouraging words and I promise to take a few fun things along the way. Secretely I hope I can squeeze photography in as a minor. Random, but hey...so fun.
Missy-I am honestly not dreading anything other than chemistry and I don't even know if I need that yet. I am getting a BS in Accounting, so looks like math and lots of economics. IDK...I haven't gotten that far yet...soon baby! :)
Michelle-I hadn't thought of it that way, but I do hope all 3 kids realize that college is VERY important to me and it becomes important to them too! Thanks!
Kristin-I know my choice is effecting you in a not so happy way, but thanks for the encouragement.
Leah-After I posted this, I had a very rough afternoon filled with more discouragement. Then I forgot to pick up my kids from school and got there ten mins late. Then I was chatting with 3 diff people at once...sorry...haha somehow I thought I had mentioned it to you in our convo. Whoops :)
Tammy- You are MY hero baby! Thank you thank you thank you for your sweet encouragement. I know that if I need to I can count on you for anything! Who knows...maybe someday we'll take a class together? ;)
Congratulations Amanda!!! You're truly inspirational!! I'll be in Logan next semester (still far away, I know)but let me know if you ever need help with your math :)I'm more than willing to help out!!
This is so good :) Congrats again!!
Good luck going back to school! What a fun and huge undertaking! You'll do awesome. I think it is interesting people are giving you grief for it because it is your decision. Not theirs.
Anyways, you'll do awesome!
Have fun and finish girlfriend!
